well, it's pretty clear that christmas cards are simply not happening this year. new year's cards are so not as fun, but i will attempt them anyway. stay tuned.
our streets have been completely iced over in snow for the past three days. looks like school will be canceled for the rest of the week as well. i got an email from the school superintendent last night informing me that the kids will most likely have to make-up days in june, so would we please refrain from scheduling vacation days during that time? can we send our children to school for an extra week on the sunniest days of summer? the humanity!
the hill by our house is teeming with children who have come out of the woodwork with sleds, innertubes, and toboggans in hand. we went to a sporting goods store to find our children a set of their own snow ride-ons, but my husband vetoed the poorly designed structure of the ubiquitous snow boogies available for the reasonable price of $29.99 or under and opted to try another day for something better. i'm not sure, exactly, what he was going for- something designed by NASA, perhaps? how much better can a hunk-of-plastic sled priced at $29.99 or under get?! now, 2 days later, we are left with a city completely SOLD OUT of sleds of any kind, and my children are the only ones on our block who are literally having to ride on the coattails of others. for shame, daddy, for shame.
it's been a crazy week. i look forward to christmas with ever-increasing excitement.
